This Privacy Policy describes how Cork ("Cork," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application, share extension, and website (collectively, the "Service"). Cork is operated by Cork LLC, a Maryland limited liability company currently being formed. Until formation is complete, the Service is operated by Clara Jeon, a sole proprietor doing business as Cork. Upon formation of Cork LLC, all rights and obligations under this Privacy Policy — including the role of data controller — will be automatically assigned to Cork LLC without further notice or action required from you.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information you provide directly. When you sign up for our newsletter, waitlist, or other communications, we collect your email address. When you create an account, we collect your phone number for verification and your first and last name. We also collect any information you provide when you contact us, submit feedback, or report an issue with an extraction.
Content you save. When you share a TikTok or Instagram link with Cork, we collect that link and process the publicly available content at that link — including captions, audio, on-screen text, images, and metadata about the post and its author — in order to generate structured results about places, events, and food for your saved collection.
Information collected automatically. We collect certain information about your device and how you use the Service, including device model, operating system, app version, and basic usage activity (such as which saved items you have viewed, hidden, or flagged). Our marketing website uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand aggregated visit patterns.
Crash and diagnostic reports. If the app sends a crash or diagnostic report, we receive technical information such as error type, stack trace, app version, operating system version, and device model. These reports are anonymous: we do not store them with your account ID, phone number, email, or name, and we do not use them to identify you. They are sent to Cork's own servers, not to a third-party crash reporting service. Crash reporting does not require you to be signed in.
We use the information we collect to:
We may create aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized data from information we collect — including from the content you save and your usage of the Service — by removing or transforming information so that it can no longer reasonably be associated with you. We may use, share, license, sell, and otherwise commercially exploit this aggregated and de-identified data for any lawful purpose, including to analyze trends, build and offer business products and services, share insights with travel, hospitality, tourism, restaurant, destination marketing, and other commercial partners, and improve the Service. Aggregated and de-identified data is not personal information and is not subject to the limitations elsewhere in this Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Service. We share only the information necessary for each provider to perform its function, and each provider's use of your information is governed by its own privacy policy and terms. The categories of providers we work with include:
Crash and diagnostic reports (mobile app). Anonymous crash and diagnostic reports are sent to Cork's own API and stored in our database on infrastructure we control (such as our hosting and database providers). We do not use third-party mobile crash reporting SDKs or services (for example Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics, or similar products) for the app.
Marketing website analytics. Our public website uses a cookieless analytics tool for aggregated visit statistics only; it is separate from the mobile app and does not receive crash reports.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect the rights, safety, or property of Cork, our users, or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business.
We retain your account information and saved extractions for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you do, we permanently delete your profile, personal account data, and any feedback you have submitted. Anonymous crash and diagnostic reports are kept separately from your account, are not deleted when you delete your account, and are retained only as long as needed to diagnose issues and improve the Service. Aggregated and de-identified data may be retained and used indefinitely. Information that is shared across users — such as the structured results for a link that multiple people have saved — is not personal to you and is not deleted with your account.
Our mobile app does not use cookies. Our marketing website uses a cookieless analytics tool that collects aggregated information about visits (such as page paths, referrer, country, and device type) without tracking individuals across sessions or websites. We do not use advertising trackers or cross-site tracking pixels.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You can manage your information in the following ways:
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under California privacy law, including the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.
When you save a link to Cork, the content at that link was originally created and posted by someone else on a third-party platform. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Cork to save and view that content complies with the source platform's terms of service and applicable laws. If you are a content creator and would like content attributed to you removed from our systems, please contact us.
Cork is not intended for users under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a person under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For minor changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes — including changes that meaningfully expand how we collect, use, or share your personal information — we will provide more prominent notice, such as an in-app notification, at least 30 days before the changes take effect, and where required by law, we will obtain your affirmative consent.
